About
Juror No. 2 is a legal thriller directed by Clint Eastwood at age 93, making it widely considered his final film after a career spanning over six decades and 40 directorial efforts. Nicholas Hoult stars as Justin Kemp, a family man who, while serving on the jury of a high-profile murder trial, realizes he may be personally responsible for the victim's death. One dark, rainy night, Justin hit something on a country road; assuming it was a deer, he drove on. A year later, seated in the jury box, he learns a young woman was found dead on that very road, on that very night, with her boyfriend standing trial for her murder. The ensemble cast includes Toni Collette as the ambitious prosecutor, J.K. Simmons as a fellow juror, and Kiefer Sutherland. Written by Jonathan Abrams. Filming began in June 2023 in Savannah, Georgia, with key locations including Pooler City Hall (doubling as the courthouse), downtown Savannah's historic squares, and the Talmadge Memorial Bridge, whose imposing structure lent visual tension to key scenes. Production paused in July 2023 due to the SAG-AFTRA strike and resumed in November. The film premiered at AFI Fest on October 27, 2024, and received a limited theatrical release by Warner Bros. on November 1, 2024. Despite strong critical reviews (92% on Rotten Tomatoes), Warner Bros. gave the film a minimal release -- reportedly just 35 theaters -- sparking industry debate about the studio burying Eastwood's swan song.
