About
Eye for an Eye is a folk horror film marking the feature directorial debut of Colin Tilley, a prolific music video director known for his work with Kendrick Lamar, Zendaya, and Megan Thee Stallion. Whitney Peak (Gossip Girl reboot, You) stars as Anna, a grieving teenager who relocates from New York to a small town in the Florida marshlands to live with her grandmother (S. Epatha Merkerson) after her parents' death. After becoming a bystander to a brutal act of bullying, Anna becomes ensnared by Mr. Sandman, a supernatural folklore entity who haunts bullies' dreams before feasting on their eyeballs. The cast includes Golda Rosheuvel (Bridgerton), Finn Bennett, and Laken Giles. The screenplay was written by Elisa Victoria and Michael Tully. Produced by Ley Line Entertainment -- the company behind Everything Everywhere All at Once -- the film was shot on location in Savannah, Georgia, using the coastal city's decaying marshlands, heavy air, and atmospheric landscapes to create the story's moody, oppressive Southern Gothic setting. HanWay Films and WME boarded international sales ahead of the American Film Market in 2024. Vertical acquired US distribution rights, and the film received a limited theatrical release on June 20, 2025. Originally titled Somewhere in Dreamland during development, the film leans into folk horror traditions while incorporating body horror elements that distinguish it from conventional teen supernatural thrillers.
