Let's Have Kids!

Let's Have Kids! is a comedy directed by Adam Sztykiel (Black Adam screenwriter) in his feature-length directorial debut, co-written with Ellie Knaus. The film stars Karen Gillan (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Zoe Chao (The Afterparty) as lifelong best friends Emma and Phoebe who decide to have their first babies at the same time. Their friendship is tested when only one of them gets pregnant. The ensemble cast includes Sam Richardson (Veep), Max Greenfield (New Girl), K.J. Apa (Riverdale), Ed Begley Jr., and Mary Steenburgen, bringing together veteran comedy talent across generations. Principal photography began in May 2024 in Portland, Oregon, with cinematographer Tim Orr (frequent David Gordon Green collaborator) behind the camera. The production is backed by MRC, the studio behind Knives Out and Baby Driver. Portland's neighborhoods provide a fitting backdrop for the story's exploration of millennial anxieties around parenthood, career, and the fear of growing apart from the people who know you best. The film joins a wave of Portland-shot productions that have taken advantage of Oregon's film incentives and the city's distinctive visual character.
