About
Ryan Coogler's period horror film stars Michael B. Jordan in dual roles as criminal twin brothers who return to the Jim Crow-era Mississippi Delta in 1932 and confront a supernatural evil. Though set in Clarksdale, Mississippi, the film was shot entirely in Louisiana within a 50-mile radius of New Orleans from April through July 2024 under the working title "Grilled Cheese." The production built over a dozen small businesses -- a grocery store, gas station, movie theater, barber shop, and hotel -- on Donaldsonville's Main Street. A juke joint was constructed on the abandoned Hidden Oaks Golf Course in Braithwaite. The 1810 Creedmoor Plantation in St. Bernard Parish, beneath a canopy of oak trees, provided key residential scenes. Laurel Valley Plantation in Thibodaux served for both plantation and church scenes. Released by Warner Bros in 2025.
