Parallax

Parallax is an upcoming Apple TV+ thriller series based on the internationally bestselling Killer Instinct crime novels by Lars Kepler, the pen name of Swedish husband-and-wife writing duo Alexander Ahndoril and Alexandra Coelho Ahndoril. The ten-episode series is written and executive produced by BAFTA Award winner Rowan Joffe and John Hlavin, with Emmy, Peabody, and DGA Award winner Tim Van Patten directing the first two episodes and serving as executive producer. Liev Schreiber stars as Jonah Lynn, an ex-soldier turned homicide detective who relocates to a small Western Pennsylvania town seeking a quiet life. His peace is shattered when the town and his family come under attack from a diabolically cunning serial killer named Jurek Walter, played by Stephen Graham (The Irishman, Boardwalk Empire). Zazie Beetz (Atlanta, Joker) and Rory Culkin round out the lead cast. Filming took place across Western Pennsylvania throughout the summer, fall, and winter of 2025, with Pittsburgh serving as the primary base of production. The series also filmed on location in the small borough of Vandergrift in Westmoreland County, transforming its downtown streets for period and narrative purposes. Open casting calls for paid background extras were posted through the Pittsburgh Film Office, drawing significant local interest. The production wrapped in late 2025, with Apple TV+ expected to release the series in 2026.
