The Body is an upcoming Netflix coming-of-age thriller series created and written by Quinn Shephard, who also directs the first episode and additional select episodes. The show tracks the ominous journey of a high school dance team during their initiation ceremony in an orthodox Catholic town, when a rite of passage goes horribly wrong and descends into collective psychosis, causing mass hysteria throughout the community. The eight-episode series was ordered by Netflix in May 2025. The cast includes Kristina Bogic, Sara Boustany, Geena Meszaros, and Traitors winner Gabby Windey. Filming began on September 29, 2025, in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, and is expected to run approximately five months through February 6, 2026. The Toronto suburb provides the production with access to Ontario's extensive studio infrastructure while offering the small-town residential neighborhoods that can convincingly double as the show's conservative Catholic community. Shephard brings a distinctive voice to the teen thriller space, known for her debut feature Blame and her sharp writing on horror and coming-of-age stories. The Body is expected to receive a 2027 release on Netflix.
