About
106 & Sports was BET's ambitious attempt to fuse sports debate with Black cultural conversation, reviving the spirit of the network's iconic 106 & Park music countdown show in a sports-focused format. Hosted by former NFL MVP Cam Newton and sports analyst Ashley Nicole Moss, the hour-long weekly talk show debuted October 15, 2025, and was recorded at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta with a large-scale production setup featuring towering LED displays, elevated audience seating, and a central performance stage. Produced in partnership with BET Media Group and LeBron James's The SpringHill Company -- with James, Maverick Carter, Jamal Henderson, Philip Byron, and Courtney Whitaker as co-executive producers -- the show aimed to create a cultural hub where sports met style, music, and real talk. Each episode featured celebrity interviews, fashion segments, and live audience debates on the hottest topics in athletics. Despite its star-powered lineup and premium production values, BET pulled the plug after just eight episodes, canceling 106 & Sports in February 2026. The brief run nonetheless demonstrated the appetite for sports-culture hybrid programming in the Atlanta market. Newton has since pivoted to a college tailgate concept, 4th & 1 with Cam Newton, building on lessons from the show's format. For Atlanta location-spotters, the Tyler Perry Studios complex on the former Fort McPherson military base continues to host major productions across film, television, and live entertainment.
