About
Song of the Bigfoot is a dramedy written, directed, and scored by Brent Bishop in his feature debut. The film stars Rhys Darby (Our Flag Means Death, Flight of the Conchords), Tre Hale, Baron Vaughn (Grace and Frankie), and Vivian Bang as three lovably quirky Bigfoot seekers who become desperately lost in the wilderness during an expedition. Thrust into a life-and-death ordeal, they soon realize they've also been lost in life, and must not only save themselves but commit to a life worth saving. The cast also includes Brenda Strong (Desperate Housewives) and newcomer Emily McEnroe (Ryan Murphy's Monsters). The production filmed on location in the forests of Oregon, leaning into the Pacific Northwest's deep connection to Bigfoot mythology -- the region is the historic epicenter of Sasquatch sightings dating back to the 1950s. Bishop, who also composed the film's score, funded part of the production through a GoFundMe campaign, reflecting the scrappy independent spirit of the project. The film blends comedy with genuine emotional stakes, using the Bigfoot hunt as a metaphor for the characters' search for meaning and purpose in their own lives.
