Michael Mann's long-awaited sequel to the 1995 crime epic Heat is filming in Los Angeles after securing a $37.2 million California tax credit. Based on the 2022 novel Mann co-wrote with Meg Gardiner, Heat 2 spans two timelines -- before and after the events of the original film. Adam Driver is attached to play young Neil McCauley, the role originated by Robert De Niro, with Leonardo DiCaprio circling a key role. Filming locations include downtown LA, Chicago, and potentially international shoots in Paraguay and Singapore. The film is produced by Amazon MGM Studios. Fans of the original can revisit many of the same LA neighborhoods -- from the Arts District to the Vincent Thomas Bridge area -- that defined the 1995 classic.
