About
Brass Knuckle Films Project is the first slate production from Robert Rodriguez's fan-funded action studio, Brass Knuckle Films, set to film at his Troublemaker Studios compound in Austin, Texas. Launched in March 2025, the venture represents the first time a major Hollywood director has partnered with fans as co-investors and collaborators on a slate of action films. The initiative operates through Republic, a global investment platform, with tiers starting at $250 and reaching over $1 million. Benefits scale from newsletter access to dinner at Rodriguez's home and private set visits. The company is a joint venture between Rodriguez and Alexis Garcia, founder of action label CAT5, co-managed by Kevin Dartt, Rodriguez's longtime business manager and Troublemaker Studios executive. The maximum raise is $1.5 million, with a $75,000 minimum threshold. All films are designed to be produced at Troublemaker Studios, Rodriguez's Austin facility where he made Spy Kids, Sin City, and Machete. In a distinctive twist, every investor can pitch Rodriguez a film idea -- ten finalists are selected to pitch their concepts directly to the director, with one winning idea developed into a full-length feature. The initiative builds on momentum from CAT5's inaugural film, A Working Man, starring Jason Statham and directed by David Ayer, which released theatrically via Amazon/MGM on March 28, 2025. Rodriguez plans to direct at least one project himself from the Brass Knuckle slate.
