About

Pluribus is a science fiction drama series created by Vince Gilligan for Apple TV+, marking his first original series since the conclusion of Better Call Saul in August 2022. Apple TV+ won the rights in September 2022 and ordered two seasons outright, a testament to Gilligan's track record with Breaking Bad and its spin-off. Rhea Seehorn, who earned widespread acclaim as Kim Wexler in Better Call Saul, stars as Carol Sturka, a novelist who finds herself among the last unaffected humans after an alien virus transforms the rest of humanity into a peaceful, content hive mind. Although Gilligan was initially reluctant to film in Albuquerque again, fearing audiences would conflate Seehorn's new role with Kim Wexler, he ultimately chose the city for its existing soundstages and the production infrastructure built over fifteen years of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. The production team constructed a full suburban cul-de-sac in the desert outside Albuquerque, enabling large-scale night shoots, stunts, and visual effects work with unobstructed views of the Sandia Mountains. To convey the show's globe-spanning scope, additional sequences were filmed in the Canary Islands and northern Spain. The nine-episode first season premiered on Apple TV+ on November 7, 2025, with new episodes releasing weekly on Fridays through December. The series includes a surprise cameo from Albuquerque's real-life mayor. Pluribus received widespread critical acclaim, holding a 98% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 182 reviews, with critics praising Seehorn's performance, Gilligan's writing, and the show's originality. Production on Season 2 is expected to return to Albuquerque.
